Then none of the amendments mean anything, or make any difference. They're just feel good words on paper?
Stop trying to twist the post to suit your needs. We were talking about people originally defending against a tyrannical govt,. The point was ,they did not have a 2ndAmend to use against the govt, and apparently did not need one.
There are millions of people wanting to leave numerous distressed countries and come to the US. How many millions are going to be walking in here with no border control? Are they checked for TB, criminal background, covid shots? Where does it all end? The entire population of Central America and any number of other states is going to wind up here eventually; it's simply a numbers game. And they'll all have a voting card, too, regardless of what the laws say. Call me a curmudgeon!

Ok, curmudgeon. But, you are still correct.

Question for NYS residents. Do any of you know if the new laws passed in NYS apply to muzzleloaders? I wrote to the Department of Environmental Conservation and received no response.

Specifically, the law now states that firearms have to be secured in a locked, "Impact, fire, and tamper-proof" hard case and hidden within your vehicle during transport.

The law is also vague (no surprise) in reference to stopping anywhere. I don't know how you stop for gas, a rest area, or even a supermarket without "leaving a firearm unattended" in your vehicle.

As much as I love my home State and enjoy hunting the Adirondacks you have to wonder if it is worth the hassle, headaches, and even the risk for non-residents. It may be time to just spend more time (and my money) in Maine.
Curious as to what any of the recent posts on this thread have to do with the OP’s question for NYS residents.

In addition to disarming those with muzzleloaders and other guns at re-enactments, the new law has thrown a wet blanket on 21-Gun Salutes at funerals and events in ‘sensitive’ areas (public parks for example).

How am I involved? I don't live in NY. I refuse to go there. There is nothing there that interests me. Sadly, most parks and museums are run by woke leftists with an agenda. They don't need me, a stupid, ignorant truck driver who is a reenactor to visit.

The Rotten Apple is somewhere I also don't go to unless work forces me to. That has pretty much ended. Philthadelphia is another such place. As is Ballmer and de Dissick o' Crack (I would like to see the Native Museum, but otherwise, I've seen all I need there). But it comes down to this: upstate NY needs to cut off NYC from their state or they are doomed. It isn't my fight. Sorry, but it ain't. Penna already is probably going to have another dem governor due to Philly and a commie leftist joke of a senator that just had a stroke. People are THAT dumb.

Good luck to New York state folks, but unless you get it together, you'll be living in a maoist state.

Maine isn't much better, they're heading in the same direction. This Country will never again be United unless "WE THE PEOPLE" vote for common sense politicians and demand term limits for local, state, and federal elected offices. As for your dilema, your only hope is a RED state.

Over 2 months after the event and still the local news in San Antonio, Texas almost nightly brings up "the children in poor old Uvalde". How is closure ever going to happen? I just wish the parents and the victims could see how they are being exploited. The leftist politicians are getting alot of mileage out of the tragedy and will continue to do so until way beyond the mid terms. Pro gun people and the 2nd amendment are both being painted with a "ugly brush" at the moment.

I told you so many years ago.. And now here it is. Dont bellyache to me.
I've been yelling it for years that this was happening. Americans now are all form and no substance. If we had these people in the 1770s, we'd still be a crown colony. In the 1860s, the south would not have had the gonads to leave and the north couldn't have beat them back. Let's not talk about ww1 or ww2... Today's Americans couldn't have done that -- couldn't comprehend it. It's horrifyingly sad.

Yes, the liberal biased media keeps churning because it will get votes for the mid term. The media is one of the biggest problems for the "right" and there is little we can do to change that. IMHO

Public opinion does tend to steer society. I never could understand why the right doesn't use propaganda like the left does. Isn't the media sometimes called the 4th branch of the government?
I think the "right" does use Propaganda, but it is poorly done. IMHO. The Liberals Demorats have learned, that emotional, fear driven propaganda is better and more effective than fact based propaganda. Hence quoting the 2nd Amend, which is useless, because it can be interpreted in many ways, as proven by various rulings, is not nearly as effective as showing "evil" firearms and murdered children. Many people on the right refuse to listen or entertain the fact that what they are doing is both ineffective and stupid, IMHO. When you keep doing the same thing over & over and you keep losing, isn't it time to rethink what you are doing?

The Dem party VOTERS today consists of young woke people who think new and improved is better a very emotional and spoiled group. The Rep has older VOTERS who still remmber and believe the old ways have worked for 200+ years .When you have a mom and dad with 1 kid thats 2 to 1 vote. Change to 2 or 3 kids the voting ratio changes. Now with what kids are indoctrinated with today the younger voters have an advantage of numbers.

IMHO!! The politicians of every party and the news media are the problems!! They pit race against race. They pit religion against religion, they pit rich against poor, they pit left against right!! They do this to keep and gain more power over the people!! As long as the common men/women in this Country remain divided, they will win and we will all lose!!! We The People, need to start over and oust the corrupt government and news media...period!!

And these WOKE young fools will soon find out what it is like to have nothing and starve!

When you figure out a way to get everyone to agree on the same thing, let us know. You will be the first person in history to ever figure that out. IMHO

Exactly....so with what is going on today.....America as we once knew it is gone!
That is a relative statement. If you are 80 what your remember as good is different than if you are 30. So the America that both knew changed, but not in the same way or to the same extent. The only thing you can say for certain is ,"things have changed". Whether the change is good or bad, depends on who you ask. There in lies the problem! People disagree on what is good or bad. However, I agree that the America we knew is constantly changing and it is difficult to know what the end result is going to be. IMHO
