Lots of reputable builders.
Not certain how many would want to rebuild an extant piece into a fantasy rifle...?

The best piece of advise the OP received was to sell the rifle and buy another (or have one custom-built). A rebuild is, on a good day, a waste of money and time...

First, who makes a .75 caliber, swamped rifle barrel and what does it cost?

He's never come back so it seems a moot point. I personally don't know of anyone that would take on that job, especially with the vague information provided. I asked questions that would help a builder decide if he would want to take on the project but received no answers. He's going to have sticker shock if he goes through with this with a "reputable" builder.

Uhmmm .. I seen no questions asked by you, only asking him what he was going to shoot with that caliber of rifle, then asking him if he ever shot one... and yes you guys probably ran him off... good job ...

Those are the first questions I would ask anybody wanting me to build a .75 rifle. The largest rifled bore I have ever built was a .69. Those were the first questions I asked that customer too. Once I established the man had some large bore flintlock experience I took the job. These large bored guns aren't something I'd build for a novice.

.69 is the biggest one I have made and it is an eye opener. I did buy a ball mould for my 12 Ga. fowler on a lark, and I can't imagine it in a rifled barrel, getting up near wall gun territory with that.

Simon Kenton, are you a moderator?

So far as I know, without more information from the OP it’s going to be hard to suggest a reputable builder.

No specs.
No price range.
No style decided on.
No acceptable wait time.

If I had those data points I’d certainly be able to suggest a builder. But most builders I know do not want to build using used parts.

The trouble is every time I suggest a good builder it turns out he is either dead, backordered three years, or retired.

Fred Miller used to be a GREAT source if you had a barrel and the thimbles to have a blank inlayed (he did my cherry stock). As I understand it he turned over his patterns to Knob Mountain Muzzleoading . . . though I know nothing about them.

So, having checked out the site it appears they offer such services.

Nope not a moderator...

I am no novice to black powder arms or modern firearms. I only wanted a reputable builder for this project. I knew what the cost was likely to be and was willing to pay it. Sadly I found my builder without the help of the forum. The rifle is being shipped out next week.

I'd think that's a good thing, not sad. It's rare you can get a guy to build you a gun in a couple weeks, show us some pics when you get it.
