that's a dandy set up, I have to agree. but I've found that the canvas version lacks the body of cardstock and will tend to sag a bit.
here's a version of that setup with two ridge poles and an upright:

the neatest thing about that design though is that you can do it with just one piece of canvas. you don't even need ties, just tie off pebbles at all the key points.

thanks on the shelter. I had some free time at my desk a few years back so I printed off several tarp lines from the website I posted and ten commenced folding, my desk looking like a danged rendezvous ground! I then got me a 12x15 tarp and went to work. I found I had the best luck with the internal poles, I just couldn't stop the canvas from sagging otherwise. saddly, not too long after I took that pic, my dog chewed ud the corner of the tarp, effectively turning it into a 6x71/2 tarp!
good eye on the neighborhood, its an old mill town and the some of the neighborhoods still reflect their heritage.

Hey Buddy- If your wife will even consider camping without the extra "stuff" (I.E. table, chairs, ALL the cast iron and redware, dining fly etc)... You are a lucky man... But in any case, when it's just me... maybe my son in tow, I use a 12x12 brown canvas tarp I bought at Northern (the grommets were already in!!), waterproofed w/ deck stain and set up with only one side staked and three poles w/ ropes (open) during the day and at night for privacy I drop the two side poles and the flaps fold down around the 6ft center pole. I would recommend that you sew a couple of pieces of 4x4inch canvas in the middle of it with a loop on one side of the tarp in case you need a center prop pole OR a guide rope and 'S' hook tied to a tree to keep it from sagging. Good luck and have fun!!
