What is the best repair for file marks on a blued barrel? Don't appear to be into the metal so much as messed up the blueing. Yep, I forgot the tape on a "minor adjustment." Looked so simple I didn't take the time to go get the tape. Can I just carefully apply cold blue to the scratches? What precautions to take, other than using tape next time to protect the barrel? I've never applied blue before, so other than following the directions...
Thanks ahead of time,
Fuzzy

Most cold blues will not be durable but they will hide the scratches about as well as a felt tip marker. Just don't expect too much from a cold blue. If you want to completely re-blue 9black) a barrel think about using Mike Lee'sExpress blue from Brownells. It's easy to use, and gives a uniform and very dark finish.
