I have recently bought a third generation Colt Army. I attempted to fire it today when I noticed that it fails to fire about half, to 3/4 of the time.. I want to put some Treso nipples on it but don’t know what threads and what not a third generation will except. When I cleaned it earlier, I also noticed that it had nipple washers on each one… Looks like the original owner had the same problem and attempted to address it by making the nipples longer? Anyway I had heard Treso nipples were a might longer and would help with cap sucking. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

I assume you are referring to the Colt 1860 Signature Model. As far as I'm aware of they take the same as the 2nd and any other Uberti made 1860. Check Track of the Wolf's site and the percussion nipple section. Track gives info on just about every percussion revolver/rifle required nipple requirements every made. Includes thread, height ,etc. Have seen a similar chart posted online. "Nipple Washers"! Since it is a used revolver I wonder if some previous owner got the wrong nipples on it at one time when possibility cleaning more than one cap and ball at a time. I tore down four cappers once upon a time for cleaning and had the four laying on my bench. Had them separated performing like cleaning on each revolver part/component in steps but had to pay attention to make sure no mistakes were made, haven't done that again. Possibly some previous owner sometime in an attempt to change nipples from original purchased wrong ones, thread was ok, but height to short. Check Tracks chart, buy some proper sized ones. Treso's are good, as are Slix. The ones Track sells are very good also, never a problem with them. They are a Treso design supposedly but made of stainless steel. I have them on 6 or so cappers with no problems.

which Treso nipples to get for the Colt signature series? Nipples that fit the older uberties, or newer ones? That’s what is asked upon putting item into cart
