Just for an example, these bullets are the RCBS mold #45-225-CAV; pretty close to the original Walker bullets in weight and length.
The back ends are sized down before loading to slip into the chambers and they swage on the front band.

Have you tried the Eras Gone .44 cal Dragoon "Sugar Loaf"? I'm getting great results with my Colt 2nd Model Dragoon (second generation). In fact, I am very pleased with all of the Eras Gone bullet molds I have tried. I give them a big thumbs up!

well, I went and raided the soda can money (when I return them for the deposit, I get the refund in quarters and throw the coins in a jar, so they're not 'frittered away'). now a Davidston & Dance mold is on the way.

More gun stuff ….. whoooooopie!!

No I haven't. Been using various .45 molds that are already in the fun box.
Lyman #45266 (a SWC design with a large bevel base) is another that has worked out pretty well.

What powder charge are you able to use and still seat these cannon shells?

I purchased all 3 molds and they cast wonderfully using pure soft lead from the get-go. Yes - they are a bit pricey but if or when Lee stops making them the price of a used mold will be triple + of what they are now. Cap & Ball, Duelist 54 & Eras Gone have videos on YouTube on these bullets - go have a look and see what they have to say about them. I have shot them in a ROA, a 1858 .44 and .36 cal Rem but not in a Colt. Shot Ok but I was just trying them out and was not looking for accuracy.
