So I bought a 28" cva 45 barrel off eBay...and then the complete stock (minus the lock) on a whim. I had a complete lock from a jukar pistol that fits. So it's a complete rifle for right at 200$. As it turns out the stock may be maple. And the barrel is perfect inside. And it's a 1-60 twist. It also lacks any Spain markings. It all looked like a train wreck but I think it will come together. I have put the barrel to Scotchbright so it's in the white again.

Anybody think this stock is maple? And any opinions on if it's a USA build?

Not USA, they were only for the slightly longer Mountain rifle with two barrel wedges.

Well the stock didn't get bleached. It did get some BC colonial red and two coats of tried and true so far. The figure did not develop any further.... underwhelming. I think I'll Brown the iron and blacken the brass. The orange peel remains....it's just porosity spots in the wood. And a lot more TnT oil.

Check to make sure the lock works with your double set triggers. I dont think Jukar pistol locks have a "fly". If it doesn't have a "fly" it will catch on the half cock notch when firing the weapon using the set trigger.

Some here would disagree, but I for one LOVE them Spaniards. And I think they are 100% worth putting a quality lock in them. They shoot amazingly well in my experience. SO, ifn ya got a barrel that will dang near put balls in the same hole, why not give it a great trigger(s) and a good lock? You already have the gun, so to me its a WIN!

I have a similar cobbled together rifle made from parts from 3 guns.

Over the years I have figured out that most CVA, Traditions and some Jukar parts (depending on the gun) are completely interchangeable.

My Frankenrifle has a Mountain Stalker Barrel, a Hawken Pistol Lock and Trigger, and a Pioneer stock. The Ramrod is a homemade bronze one I bought off a member here in the forum. All parts went together with no fitting needed as if they were intended to go together on day 1.
