I found this on a French BP forum. [email protected]
To compensate for a future lack of RWS1075 primers (I still have a few) I tried today to make my own primers.
I used H&C products, of which I ordered a set of 26 reusable brass cases and a dose of "product". I did not take the complete H&C kit, because I machined the plate with its loading hole. The cleats are not a problem either and I saved almost 50 euros.
80 matches give 1 gram of powder. I crush it well on a sheet of paper before adding 0.1 grams of H&C "product". I measure weights, not volumes. Then just mix well.
On the loading plate I have a little mixture (at random, very little is needed), divided into 6 to fill the primers of a barrel.
I keep the mixture in a small pod. I don't mix more, because it's apparently not too stable. The brass case for the primer holds well on the chimney after having slightly ovalized it with pliers.
A test has confirmed the good functioning of these primers. It clicks well, the case stays in place. It is reusable after a little cleaning of the combustion residues that remain stuck to the bottom. I'll do a test shot of 2 rounds of 12 bullets at the pits tomorrow.
If you want more information there are plenty of videos on Youtube, including the excellent Paul Lefèbre.
EDIT 1: From what I read on other forum responses, it seems that these H and C reusable caps cannot be used on Colt model revolvers.
