To a limited extent, the longer barrel also gives more mass further out from the shooters hand.
This helps reduce the movement of the gun while firing.

Now the small mass of a C&B guns barrel doesn't add as much as one of my unmentionable cartridge Target Pistols but it does help some.

Yup! Its exactly why those centerfire benchrest boys don't have 40 inch barrels (usually half that or less!) cause barrel length aint got NOTHIN' to do with accuracy.
