Clean the barrel and the underside of the rib with sandpaper. Squirt the solder from the syringe onto the barrel flat and spread it around. Clamp the rib to the barrel with several C-clamps. Clamp the middle first and work to the ends. Apply heat to the whole assembly to kind of warm things up, then start heating from one end. As the solder melts keep moving towards the other end. Let it cool completely and remove the C-clamps. Forgot to mention, coat the sides of the barrel with pencil lead to keep solder from sticking where you don't want it. Makes clean-up a lot easier.
Thank you sir.

I tried riviting on two ribs and one worked OK and the other I drilled too deep and trashed a barrel. I now solder all my ribs on. I first silver braze on the RR pipes and then soft solder on the rib with Stay-Brite and use Stay-Bright paste flux.

Here is what works for me using a drill press and cross travel vise. Rib is drilled and countersank first then solder on the tubes. Clamp rib to barrel and mark barrel through the rib holes for drilling. Mount barrel in the vise. Determine screw length and set the drill press depth stop gauge to correct depth so as to not drill into the bore or use a drill bit stop that clamps on the bit. Tap with bottoming tap and use thread cutting oil. Go slow tapping back and forth to clear the tap and not let it bind and break off. Turn down machine screw heads to fit down flush in the countersank holes and mount. Here is a picture of one I did. Pretty easy with the vise and drill press but I did do my first one with a vise and handheld drill though it was not so easy.
