I so far have been unsuccessful in getting touch with Jason.....I need to get another breach plug for the 50cal 44" swamped rice barrel.
Current plug measures in metric size??.... 19x1.5

My gauge and friends concurs it really not a true 3/4x16

Am I right? Does rice tap thi plugs in metrics?

Not unless it was custom cut.

50 cal would typically be (either) 5/8-18 or 3/4-16 from most makers.

All my Rice barrels have come without a plug (I order that way), and while I clean up the threads/bottom of the breech (of all my barrels) with an appropriate tap, I don't recall even a small issue with the threads on Rice (or anyone else's barrels for that matter).

Rice's website says 45 cal and under would have a 5/8"-18 thread and 50 and over 3/4"-16. But this could be a 5/8"-18 if the the 3/4 seems "bigger" - never know, could have an off day or something.

About 2/3's of the way down the homepage is all the barrel details (Rice)

I really doubt that Rice or anyone else would use a M19 x 1.5mm thread.

First off, there doesn't seem to be a M19 thread shown in any of the Metric Thread spec.s I've found.

There is a M16 x 1.5 and a M20 X 1.5 but that's as close as they come.

As you know, 19mm = .7480 inches making it .002 smaller than 3/4" (.750).

Also, a male 3/4" fine pitch thread has a standard major (largest) diameter of .7485-.7391 (Class 2) or .7500-.7406 (Class 3).
That makes the average major diameter equal to .7438 (Class 2), or .7453 (Class 3).
Both of these averages are smaller than 19mm.

As for the thread pitch, 1.5mm would be equal to a spacing of .0591 inches or 16.9334 threads per inch.

Bottom line?
The thread your looking at is a standard 3/4-16 UNF thread. I don't know its class but for most common work it is most likely a Class 2.

Speaking of thread class, if I was designing the breech, both the internal and external threads would be Class 3 for the greater precision the class gives.

Yup......I have to buy a TOTW replacement for this build.....

I could use some help too , I installed a hooked breech on my fowler, 20 gouge, .62cal. but need to get a new breech plug because of an excessive file work!! I don't know what the thread size for that barrel would be, it's a Rice?

Email Jason at Rice Barrel. He is excellent at what he does. I have had 2 breech plugs installed recently by him. He was fast, accurate and called me when he had a question.

Cannot say enough about the service from him.
