I received a dozen of Mr. Pierce's-list member of Missouri- 11/8 musket flints yesterday and they exceeded my expectations. They spark very well in my Brown Bess and all 12 are milspec in that they all have two flat surfaces to fit into the jaw of the cock.
My science teacher, rockhound wife, originally from Central Missouri, tells me they are "chert" which lighter color-white-than the dark gray of English gun flint, but has the same chemical composition as flint. They will be field tested at a Rondezvous this weekend.

Rich's flints are getting better and better. Often his flints are 'two-sided' and now and then, 'four-sided'! Rich's flints are the best out there for the money you pay (a buck a flint).
as an aside, i just got a quote from Smoke&Fire and his flints are going for $28 per Dozen! with shipping that's about 3 bucks a flint. :surrender:

Ouch! I like Pierce's flints well enough. They spark when I drop the hammer - and at a buck a piece. Rough, tough and sparky (as he likes to say.) :)

I think he is going to much busier this year.
With the falling dollar, the English imported flints are becoming more and more expensive.
Plus they work great
