I've waited a couple of years for this rifle to be built. I commisisioned Mitch Yates to build me a rifle that I call my "heritage" rifle. I wanted a rifle in the style that the first Fleener's might of carried when they came here in the 1700's.

It is a .54 swamped GM barrel, 38" long. I have not received the rifle yet, should be shipped next week.

A "Heritage Rifle" indeed. The Joy that you will feel when first you take her in your arms! I am happy for you.  :hatsoff:

I sure hope you have this rifle at Friendship. It's a beautiful piece.

I share your passion for J. Dickert. My 4 great grandfather was a contemporary of Jacob's when he lived in Lancaster. Mike Miller made a rifle for me with that in mind. It is similar to RCA #48.

I hope to see your rifle this June,
Pletch

Yep, I plan on shooting it at Friendship. Was thinking about bringing you the lock for testing as well. Be happy to bring the whole rifle with me to your booth.

The good thing about waiting a few years for your rifle to be built is I had that time save for it.

The first Fleener's I am sure would of never had this fancy of a rifle, they were farmers, like most during this time.

Mitch certainly built you a beautiful LR and the workmanship is outstanding. One question.....did you specify Chambers' Early Lancaster Bplate and Trigger guard? I too have used that combo on a few Lancaster builds....quality and the style of the Bplate "says" early. Thanks for showing such a beautiful LR which undoubtedly you will treasure......Fred

I am not a very good student on the finer points of a certain style of rifle for the period.

I let Mitch make those picks.

I wanted a .54 cal, early rifle and I liked this style of rifle, Mitch took it from there.

Fleener,

That's a very nice rifle. When you get it, could you comment on the weight, feel, and balance.

I'm not using my 41" Reading D profile 54 cal for my next build. I wan't a lighter hunting rifle for now.

Do you know anything about the barrel? Weight class, manufacturer, and the profile they used.

Beautiful rifle. You will really like the 38" swamped barrel

Thanks for sharing :hatsoff:

Well, I am not sure now how long the barrel is. I just sent an email to Mitch checking on it.

Mitch said it as 38", I show in my emails from Tip Curtis that it was supposed to be a .54 GM in C' weight, 42" long, swamped that I bought from him and had shipped to Mitch.
