I know from reading the muzzleloading forums that the Rifle Shope has a horrible reputation for taking your money and shipping the parts many moons later. But i'm still dying to build myself a Ferguson - has anyone purchased and actually received the Ferguson parts kit? How long did it take? How was the quality? How did it shoot?

Thanks,

-Nick

The Rifle Shoppe offers a service like no other.

You are going to get your stuff sooner or later.

With the exclusivity, and the expense of the components........I figure waiting, and improving your building skills while waiting is actually a blessing. If you build with TRS parts, you had better know what you are doing!

Granted, I have not ordered anything as of yet, but waiting 2 years doesn't scare me. :hmm:

Give'em a call and see if the parts are in stock before you order.
They list the complete parts set for $1499 or $1599 for the parts set with an assembled lock - 'in for a penny, in for a pound'. I've bought a lock set from them (go with the assembled lock!!), it took about 60 days. Mike

Were you satisfied with the quality of the lock?
I assembled the lock myself - that's why I recommended spending the $100 extra to buy the parts set with an assembled lock. It was no walk in the park. Here's a photo of the lock under assembly -

They harden the parts and springs - its all set to go when they send it. I went the 'some assembly required' route-I don't recommend it unless you've done it before. I machined all of the screws, including the wood screws, on this beast. Mike

OK - thanks for the info. Nice job on your gun so far! Looks like the extra work was worth it.

I have a set of castings from them for an early large round-faced Dutch lock and they are extremely good quality but I will probably forge my own springs instead of using the cast ones.
