I have a chance to buy a Rogers Spencer Euroarms Of America new like condition. Seems to be a quality made revolver. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
I had to pay 475.00 dealer would not move it's like new never fired.Do you mind sharing the price? I have one. It is my most accurate C&B revolver.
Thank youThese are very good, solid pistols. If the price is acceptable to you, buy it. One of the more functionally accurate pistols available.
Thank youI have 2 now. Very accurate pistol. Used .454 ball although someone told me .457. Mine likes .454 30 gr. 3f and cornmeal filler.
Thank youBack in the day the EOA Rogers & Spencer was the best "out of the box" revolver on the market. The timing, lock-up and trigger were very good and they quickly gained a good reputation for accuracy.
I don't know if 475 is good or not but it's like new thank youI just got one a couple of weeks ago. I've been shooting cap and ball revolvers for decades. The R & S is the best I've found. Only the Ruger Old Army compares. I put 48 rounds through it with no fouling trouble or caps getting into the works. I used .454 balls but the previous owner got better results with .457s. Haven't tried it with those yet. It seems to like 22 to 25 grains of 3F powder.
If I came across another one at an acceptable price, I wouldn't hesitate. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.

Thank youMy first BP revolver was such a revolver, back around 1981. It fitted my hand like it was made, but, because we lived in Berlin, there was no black powder and I had to shoot it with Pyrodex. That was, until we went to a shoot in Braunschweig at the end of '83, where I finally got to shoot it with the real thing, and oh boy, was it an eye-opener! It shot so well that a shooter in the club we were visiting made me a totally ridiculous offer for it, which I took.
I truly regret that sale, TBH, and often think about that fine-shooting, hand-filling revolver with great affection.
Thank youThe Rogers & Spencer pistol had a feature that kept fouling from the chamber mouth from fouling the pin that the cylinder rotates on.
Where the Colt and Remington revolvers cylinder had a flat face, the Rogers & Spencer cylinder has a area around the center of the cylinder that sticks out about 1/8". The front of this protrusion rests against the front of the frame to hold the cylinder in the correct location. With this offset, the fouling from the chambers hits the protrusion but it doesn't work it's way forward into the gap between the cylinder and the receiver.
It's too bad the other companies didn't come up with this idea earlier. The Colt and Remington pistols are known for binding up after a few shots because they don't have it.
Thank youR&S is a great fun gun for plinking fun but I still prefer my Remington Army and Navys for match use. Grip not as nice a feel to me as Rem. Army, Colt 1851/60/61/ or 62. R&S is harder for me to cock with with shooting hand thumb. Wanted to like the R&S. Bought my second one a year ago. Sold it a few months later just like the first one years ago.
