The Timber Hitch was originally used to tow spars when coupled with half-hitches along the length

This hitch shouldn't lock up

Its also used as the adjusting knot in open ended bowstrings. It holds well

What knots are you using that are locking up on you?

Just your ordinary square knot or any knot for that matter.
I don`t use a rope much, mostly to pull a tree that`s going to fall the wrong way.
I`d put bigger hooks on my machine but it would take truck loads of twine to keep me happy. :shocked2: :haha:
