What in the world is a rifled choke tube?

A screw in choke that is rifled. They were marketed to use in modern unmentionables to add rifling to a smooth barrel to shoot another unmentionable for deer.
they do work for what they were made for. i would just make sure the ball is not too large [ or small ]. if you are thinking of patching it, the patch might get messed up when it hits the rifling. only one way to find out..

That's why I said modern unmentionables
They are not designed for lead, they are designed to accept plastic, and will not take the impact of the lead. You will end up in many cases peening the choke tube threads into the threads of the barrel..., then the tube won't come out ever again.
Further, the plastic they are designed to affect is very securely bonded to a slug, while any plastic on the market today designed to accept a round ball is designed to be held in place by rifling from breech to muzzle. So if you used a small enough ball so that you could use it with a rifled, screw-in choke and said plastic, the minute the edge of the plastic holding the ball hit the inside edge of the choke tube... it would strip the plastic off the round ball before it could impart a spin. You'd do better to simply use a smooth bore and tight ball.
CVA makes a combination projectile that we don't discuss on this forum, that might work.
