Mornin boys, I been thinkin, after readin roundballs "bowling ball" theory,, I just can't get it out of my head, Makes sense to me, My first ML was a 45 cal, And I can sea the difference between that one and my 50 cal,, I'm thinkin the 54 would be darn near as much difference as that, I checked on the Green Mountain barrel that will drop in my 50 cal stock ( 15/16 barrel) I would like some input on their barrels,, Are they good?? Do they guarantee their work man ship ?? Is the 15/16 and the 1" that much of a difference?? (1/32 from side to side) I like the feel of my stock after I added a lil to it, I'm thinkin this might be MY middle-of-the-road fix,, (if that makes any sense to you all)
Can the 50 cal stock handle the 54??
Any advice/input ????

Darn roundball,,,,

I have some GM barrels, rifled & smoothbore, and they're excellent.

('course mine don't have that nipple thingy sticking up in the air  )

K boys, The barrel came, It dropped right in, All the hardware fit on, optic sights, front and rear, Ram rod holder's (My brass ones) It's 1 3/8 inch longer then the T/C 1 in 66 twist barrel I got from T/C, I like it, Got a neat sight adjusting tool with it also,
NOW*** It is bout 1/2 to 3/4 pound lighter then the T/C and said the max grains is 110, Same as the T/C,, I'm hopin that 75 to 90 will do it for the POI,, That's a huntin load to me, It did not fit **real** tight into the tang like the T/C does, And it's a new tang, (bout 200 rounds with it) It is tight with the pin in, I'm not sure bout that part but will find out when I go shootin, I might go tomorrow, I'll just wait till bout 10 o'clock so the neighbors are up, Sound travels thru these hollers,, I'm gonna try the .530,, I got them,,,

Well boys, I had a problem with the ram rod that came with the new barrel, I ran a patch down to clean the barrel up for today's shootin, When I tried to pull it out, the darn tip came off the rod, It was at the bottom of the barrel, It is to early to pull the nipple and drop some powder down it and fire it out and I'm not good at sittin round doin nothin (My Lady laughs at me some times for that, I guess that's what I get for havin a younger lady,, I like younger woman, I am 58 y/o now, so the younger ones are fun ya know,, I will be 59 in the start of july,, She don't turn 52 till the end of july) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/myLady.jpg
Any way,,,, so I put some super glue in the ram rod and pushed it back in the barrel till I felt it seat on the tip, (3 times) I got it out,, Then I cleaned up the ram rod with alcohol, sanded down the glue then polished it, It cleaned up real nice,, Then I waited till the sun just started to come up and the wind was not blowin to hard and walked out to the trash can, open the lid and inserted the ram rod in, Then I closed the lid and walked away, I think it all came out 0k ,,,

My sentiments exactly about those cheap hollow aluminum ramrods.....AND.....even though I won't use them for under-rifle rods, I figured I could at least use them for range accessories like patch retreivers, ball pullers, etc.

Well, the first time I used one with a ball puller the torque simply sheared off the pin holding the top accessory adapter where I had a wooden ball screwed in...when I got home, I broke every one I had across my knee and threw them in the trash.

So I use nothing but strong brass or stainless rods...life's too short to fool with junk in my favorite pasttime.

Called OC yet?

Mornin roundball
OC ??
I know, I'm a lil slow,, I've always been one tree short of a hammock,,
The brass ram rod I got for my T/C is a lil shorter but seems to work 0k, And it looks good,,, I like shinny brass, x-Navy ya know,,,

roundball
I just ordered one from OC, It will be sent out tomorrow,,,,
