I need some suggestions and/or links to a supplier who sells .69 caliber roundballs. I found some at Dixie Gun Wrks, but I would like some alternatives. I have read a few posts about people having problems with them. I can't find any locally and haven't decided for sure if I want to cast my own.

This guy makes very good cast balls and is the most reasonably priced I'm aware of...I use his cast balls for my .40 and .62...don't know if he makes .69's...no website...have to call him.

I got a shipment of .600 balls from Eddie - good balls, good price & nice to chat with.

If you are buying the .690's for that Charlyville i think you will find they are to large. You said your bore was about .6855 and the balls will probably run .690-.695. Won't even be able to use them bare most likely.

Rebel, I haven't measured the bore yet. I tried the .678" with some .018" and some .015" ticking patches. I couldn't get the ball started. Some other Charly shooters said they use a .662" ball with a patch. I have some thinner patch material to try until I can get the correct size balls.

Ohh, my mistake then, i thought you said the bore was .6855. Even if it is .690 a .690 rd ball may not work as like i said they tend to run a bit larger than that depending on the mould.
Edit: I think i just figured out that you aren't actually looking for .690 rd balls, but for the right size ball to use in it huh? Sorry 'bout the misunderstanding.

Rebel, I think the confusion may come from me talking about needing .69 caliber balls, but wanting them to be .662".

I get most of mine from Eddie also. I just ordered from him today. If you are within his driving range & there is something going such as a rondy or match he likes, he will deliver them to ya there for free. He always comes to the ASMLA silhouette match in March so I get them delivered to me there.

I called and talked to Eddie today. He is a very nice guy. He said the .69 caliber muskets do use a .678" ball, and that is what he casts. I need to check the thinner patch material I have to be sure it works before I make an order. I also need to measure my bore.

Thanks,
Jim
