It won't happen, boys. Once you start banning in-lines in a state that has already allowed them you are shooting retailers, discounters, thousands of hunters and big gun companies in the foot. The fat wallet will rule. And even if you ban in-lines like Colorado did, the side hammer "Colorado Specials" will come out and you won't have gained a thing. It won't happen. Everyone learned a lesson from watching Colorado and that fiasco.

Not likely on taking a week away from fimearms season. We only get two weeks as it is, it's been that way since man dad was a little kid back in the 30s.

I think it would be really hard to ban in-lines, but there might be a chance to have a primitive season. That would make PA Keeler real proud!

 

IMHO inlines have been like a "cancer" to many of the original primitive seasons!!!!

We are going through the "zip gun" in primative in Pennsylvania right now. So far the post Christmas (am I allowed to say that?) flintlock season has survived but they are allowed in the October muzzleloader antlerless season. There seems to be a lot of pressure to get them into the flintlock season, seems to be dollar driven. Well I guess that is to be expected given none or at least very few of the hunting and gun rags cover anything but the latest primer lock scope sighted jacketed bullet shooting too many magnum inline. Seems the round ball shooting flintlock is not capable of harvesting game any more. Well good luck in Michigan.

To me, this is exactly the kind of national issue that the NMLRA should step up to and drive

It would seem that way based on the NMLRA's published platform, but looking at the Feb 2004 Muzzle Blasts four of six longhunter field reports were about game harvested with zip guns. It seems to me a scope sighted jacketed hollowpoint firing primer locked rifle has much more in common with modern cartridege guns than "traditional" muzzle loaders. I'm guessing eventually all the records will be held by modern guns, unless we set up a seperate record book for traditional arms. Oh well the ramblings of an old grey beard.

How about banning scope sights in primtive seasons instead? Here in Alaska you can use scoped muzzleloaders during the regular season, but in any special hunt you have to leave the scope home. Takes some of the incentive out of using an inline. I've got no problem with them, but don't see their point in our special hunts when you can't use scopes. If I got one, it would be only a matter of curiosity and I would use it only during the regular season and with a scope. I doubt I could hit well enough beyond 100 yards to make any extra range worthwhile without the scope.

In-lines versus Trad! Should we all band together and fight the Anti hunters? YES

Should WE have separate Hunts and scoring of Trophy Animals? It would be nice, but.......

I've said it before on this forum, and I'll say it a few more times; we have strength in numbers. I shoot my stick bows with wooden arrows, I shoot my longrifles with round balls, and what anyone else does affects me but little.

If we fight amoung ourselves we lose.

Those with a come-along bows and soda-straw aluminium arrows, or non-traditional muzzleloaders have one thing in common with me; we all enjoy hunting and the outdoors. That should be enough to encourage us to defend each the other's sport.

I believe it is the gun manufactures whats causen the "division" mongst us muzzleloadin folks!!

And the "latest developments" in muzzleloader technology is entirely "MONEY MOTIVATED"!!

Ther was no "devision" tween folks shoot"n muzzleloaders until the "INTRODUCTION" of the "modified centerfire rifles" (modern inlines)!!

We argue!!________ while the "gun manufactures" laugh all the way to the bank!!

To be right honest____ I always thought that the "development" of the Minnie bullet was influenced more by "war"__ then by "sport huntin"!!
