I have had this for years and just dug it out again & thought I would share some pictures on some of the muzzleloading forums.
This is a customized Russ Hamm # 17 lock along with a 2 piece trigger guard.
All have been pierced with 14k Gold rivets & inlays etc.
You can see the 14k hallmark on the dragon.
Even the nut has a gold top added and the top jaw screw has an inlaid band of gold.
The trigger guard is pierced with gold and even the sides and ends are inlaid.
No idea how deep the side inlays go.
There is an eagle on the cock, leaves on the jaws, maybe a vulture & trusty hunting dog on the side plate along with some foliage.
The frizzen has the dragon & leaves.
This is truly one of a kind!

Welcome to the forum. Never seen the likes of that lock. the question "why" keeps popping into my head. Wow!

The only answer I know to Why? is Why not? :)
As to building a gun around it, that would be way out of my league.

Beautiful lock!, I really like the dragon on the frizzen  . Oh, btw, there is a guy on The ALR that has done a Yeager barrel with Gold inlays this lock would go nicely with it.

Sir that is a prize anyone would be proud to have, The lock work is frankly out of my league, but the trigger guard is very interesting. I hate to ask but I can't help myself could we see more pictures of the trigger guard please

That is a very interesting piece. I just purchased a rifle that has a russ hamm lock on that I'm figuring out is a good sparker or not. Thus far it seems solid. Do you know much about him as a maker besides what is available online?

Not trying to hijack this thread by any means.
