Did any of you old timers out there ever hear of locks made by Russ Hamm? I have one that I'm useing on a fintlock I'm puting together. Got it from my Pop. He had it for years. Are thay a good lock? :hmm: Are thay still being made?

I have one of his locks that he made in the late 60's and I have had good luck with it, it is a "Maslin" flintlock. I have heard others that haven't been as fortunate. I believe that he sold out to Dean Mitton, who continued the line for awhile. I don't think they are made today.:m2c:

lehigh,I have one on a rifle I built back in the early 70'sused it for years with only one problem,I broke the frizzen in the 80's,at that time Dean Mitton had taken over the business. He sent me a new frizzen, which sparked better than the original.I don't know who is making these locks now,or even if anyone is.Mine's been a good lock for all these years, although I had a gunsmith tighten her up for me last year.Wayne.

There's another post on Russ Hamm locks, do a search. I posted it some time back, i think on the flintlock side. My lock works good. One of the replies had some history on Mr Hamm's work. Apparantly avery well respected maker.

THanks for the info guys. I did some seaching on the site and found some of what you talked about. Seems like it could be easier to do a seach. :hmm: Had fun with that. It did answer some questions though.
Thanks again. Lehigh
