Every now and then I make a knife that I really like. Finished this today. 9" blade of 01, whitetail grip with ugly face, iron guard with underside bevel. Thanks for looking.

Good looking sticker' nice idea using seed beads in the eyes. I like the treatment of the crown on the antler. I've made some knives w/ the same type handles but never could quite figure out what to do with that extra bone left over from cutting the antler off the skull.Wild Eagle

Just thought of something else. I assume you know your way around a anvil, how do you put the guard on? Do you fit it carefully and use the pressure of pinning everthing together to hold it tight,or do you heat the guard and drive it over the tang and let it shrink upon cooling to keep it tight? I fit my guards very, very close, tap them down with a piece of aluminum pipe for the last few thousanths. One trick is to slightly taper the tang on all four sides, with the side taper stopping one half, to two thirds down into the guard area. After which I seal the joint with epoxy to keep moisture out. Most of my guards will not show any gap at all. It takes extra time this way, but is much neater.

I think that's one of my favorites! I love to see all your work but, personally, that takes the cake.

What is the sheath made out of? Rawhide?
