My first muzzleloader re-finish.
The stock was really dark which I didn't care for so I refinished it, and while it was apart took the opportunity to do a little re-shaping of the lock panels, wrist area and front of the comb.
Also tidied up some other fitments here and there that were kinda sloppy.

It all kinda ran together before with the brown barrel and brown stock, I see why you wanted to refinish it, looks better now.
 
I don't know that mine originally came with the dark stain finish.
While sanding/stripping the old finish I did notice that there was a reddish layer under the dark stain, perhaps it was originally like yours and stained darker at some time?
