Any zinc that gets into the pot contaminates the whole batch. It makes an mess that does not flow like it should. You may be able to add powdered sulfur and skim off the dross, raise the temperature very hot and use for fishing weights or whatever, still won't cast bullets though. You must sort the wheel weights individually and make sure that no zinc gets into the pot for casting bullets for M/L or cartridge loading either. Watch the previous video in this thread.
 
Holy cow, more nonsense about wheelweights.

To clear up some of the horse feathers, there are three kinds of wheelweights mainly encountered: clip on, stick on, and zinc. The zinc are worthless. Separate them from the pile and toss them. Clip ons are alloyed with 2 to 3% antimony. The cartridge bullet casters love them and will buy them from you or trade you for soft lead if you cannot use them. Stick on wheel weights are essentially pure lead, typically testing at about 99.7% Pb. These are good for muzzleloading purposes.
