Could have been worse, she could have seen bubble gum.
It is working.

You guys have duct tape and us girls have nail polish....

(I couldn't say how many times I have ussed nail polish for repairs.)
I'm glad you have a sense of humor. As long as it works and it looks good, that's what matters.

Farmers markets are a great place to find pure bees wax. A buck a block in my neck of the woods. Any extra melted with olive pil for wad lube. Good stuff.

Well if Horner slapped his head at the mention of nail polish and putty, what will he do over the mention of :stir: epoxy?

not that i have ever used nail polish for its intended purpose (well, there was that one particularly nasty broken/torn off/bleeding/just-about-to-get-infected hang nail thingy, and i will confess to filching a few smears of my daughter's nail polish to put a patch on it ... but it was only the clear stuff, and i was really in desperate shape ...)

but i will advertise that i am the only person in town who has used duct tape to (you guessed it) actually tape up ductwork.

my client was flabbergasted. the weird whistle stopped, the cooling system worked, the room got cold, the thermostat clicked off, and the electric bill stopped skyrocketing ...

i am compelled to point out that duct tape is like the 'force;' having a dark side, a light side, and will hold the universe together, beats nail polish hands down. really, duct tape is magic, but nail polish is just paint in a fancy bottle.

not to denigrate nail polish, but it really doesn't have the same magic as ductape.

:blah:

If nobody laughs too hard,
I'll admit to having a bottle of clear nail polish in my shooting box.

It'll seal wood against moisture.
If you have a stuborn bolt or screw in a lock that won't stay put get everything clean an dry and the stuff acts like locktite to keep it in place.
If theres a wood screw thats beginning to strip out, a drop in the hole can save it from needing to be drilled out filled and reset.
An like MSW it can be used to cover a nasty little hurt, kinda like that liquid skin stuff.
(Burns though!)
It's got all kinda little handy uses, Girls an Ladies even use it on their nails.
