I am about to run out of my stash of pillow ticking. :( I bought several yards several years back (over 10 years) from a fabric store in Texas. It was the good old plain pillow ticking that we all love for patching round balls. NOw when I go to such places as the closest fabric shop or Wal-Mart, the pillow ticking that they have has a very thin plastic coating finish on the inside. :nono: The clerk told me that it is intended to be better at keeping feathers from sticking through. This just ain't what I want. :shake: Does anyone out there know where I can find plain old pillow ticking?

Bill, I quit using pillow ticking because I couldn't find any with a tight enough weave. I take my micrometer to the fabric store and by denim. It comes in a variety of thickness and colors. Just make sure its 100% cotton, I like the white, gives me a better read.

look for a fabric called "40 drill". it is off white, tight weaved, looks like ticking without the stripes and resembles the stuff the pockets of your levi's and wrangler pockets are made of.
mine measures .016/.017.

i have no problem finding ticking here --red or blue be glad to pick up some for you and mail it to you just pay coost of ticking and shipping

Hmm”¦ walmart and joe-anne’s fabric both have red and blue-striped ticking here. They also carry the synthetic stuff as well. If you really want ticking, I would suggest trying to find a fabric store in your area or finding an online source. Otherwise, you can always try out other natural fabrics as has been mentioned.

The Wall-marts here carry regular p.t. Not the plastic stuff. It does vary in thickness even tho the SKU# is the same, so when I find one I like I buy the whole bolt. Hopefully I now have enough to get me thru the month.......

I guess I'm lucky that the local Walmart still has the regular ticking. I've seen it in fabric stores too, as well as a bunch of other natural fiber cloth that might even work better (thicker, thinner, etc.).

Dang it, Bill. When are ya gonna move to Austin? Plenty o' Wally World's here. Just bought some red stripe over the WE. Think the weave is too loose but will find out. got to wash it first.
