Before you get the idea to passivate your barrel to expose the chrome (and nickle), as was mentioned above, you should be aware of the fact that that post was speaking of corrosion resistant steel alloys that have chrome and nickle in them.

The barrels on muzzleloaders do not have chrome or nickle in them so all that passivation does is to desolve the barrels surface. :shocked2: :cursing:
 
I seasoned my barrel . Not only does it shoot better , it tastes great ! :blah: :rotf: :youcrazy:
 
How about a dozen shakes of TABSCO onto a patch, and then .....into the mouth for a spit wad, that would be 'seasoning'
