Hi. Have somebody informations about marking of Remington percussion revolvers?
It is generally known that Remington have made around 120000 pieces of 1858 new army model revolvers (cal ,44). But in antique shops I saw 1858 Remingtons with serial numbers 128000 or 131000! How it is possible?
It is fake?
Or, Remington made more than 200000 percussion revolvers total and when they started to make new model they simple didnt start again from number 1? In other words, first 1858 Remington was with number (example) 25462 and no with number 1?
Thanks
