Hi folks, hope everyone is safe and well this holiday season. My question today is if there is a set trigger available for my CVA Kentucky Longrifle? It came with the trigger setup in the pictures. Thanks, Steve in So. Tenn.

They didn't list one but I asked if they could point me towards one somewhere, I'll let you know if anything comes up. Thanks for that heads up.

Hi Phil, this is what I have, I'm not that knowledgeable in that area yet.

Sorry to tell ya, but the lock will not support the use of set triggers. And to my knowledge there isn't a replacement that will fit that style of lock that will allow set triggers.
However, That screw in the tumbler can be adjusted to allow a lighter trigger pull

L&R sells 2 locks(one flint and one percussion) for the CVA that will replace the original lock to allow set triggers. The dimensions are 4-3/8" x 7/8". The caplock might work. It will take some inletting.
However, the lock and set triggers will cost($140 in 2018 for the lock and approx. $65 for the triggers.) about as much as the rifle is worth. Better to adjust the little screw for a better single trigger pull.
Look at www.lr-rpl.com under RPL on the header.

At this time I have no CVA Kentucky in the stable and cann't compare lock sizes, but, the lock on the Mountain Rifle has the same shape (it's 4 1/2" long) and they sport set triggers. I would think that the problem that you would probably have is that if you could fit them to the Kentucky the factory trigger guard opening won't be big enough for the set triggers.
Trigger pull on these models can range from good to poor. If you yours is poor and you want to put some time in to improve it you should use the search feature here on the forum; I'm pretty sure that our dear departed Zonie gave a great write up on proper inletting of these single triggers for a greatly improved trigger pull/press.

You guys are ALL fantastic!!! Thanks for all the info...plenty to think about. It's always nice to have options. Fired the beast yesterday and It's a lot of fun!! Have a great holidays!! Steve in Tenn.

Doin' that much work to a CVA Kentucky reminds me of the old cowboy sayin' about "40 dollar saddle on a 10 dollar horse".

Chef,
See what the L&R "single set" trigger looks like. Might be more easily adaptable to your CVA than double sets.

What,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, what happened to Zonie ?

Wow, some how I missed this sad news but have been waiting for him to chime in on some of these discussions and wondered where he was. We are diminished by his passing. At my age of 72 it gets more common to hear all the time. I will miss him !

Bless his kind heart, and my thoughts for Mrs. King, I know it's hard to lose a partner. My prayers for you and the family.
