I bot a seven seas derringer awhile ago and my question is, does anyone else own one of these or shot one before? thanks

Yep, I got one of those things early this past spring. I never shot it with balls, just #9 shot. I carried it this summer to shoot snakes and got seven of them. I put in about 12 grains of 777ff, a lubed wad, 100 grains of #9 shot, then a thin cardboard wad. I cock it and put on a cap then cover the cap with an empty 22 short brass and let the hammer down on it. That makes it safe to carry. When you need it, just cock it, take off the 22 brass and fire.
Before I could fire it I had to take the nipple and barrel off and clean out the channel so the cap would fire the powder. It was full of what looked like rust. After cleaning that out, there has never been a misfire.

if i was too use the .36 cal ball, can i unscrew the barrell, load it with powder, set the ball on it and screw the barrell over it? do you get what i mean? would that work?

Actually, that was the purpose of the "turn-off" or "screw-off" barrel in the first place. The idea was to gain better powder pressure with an over sized ball.

On this one, the barrel unscrews for cleaning. It is meant to be used with a patched ball. That is what the instructions say to use.
