It's been a while since I took the breech block out of my Shiloh Sharps (I actually gave up on breechloading carbines in competition and went back to my JRA Richmond Carbine with Hoyt Barrel - most accurate gun I own). But as I recall, they have something like a proper Conant Gas Seal. There are no o-rings in their design. And they likely precision-fit everything to work properly.I haven't been able to find how Shiloh solved the gas check plate and fouling issues on their percussion Sharps. Anyone know? I like my Garrett but if a Shiloh copied the original Sharps design and still somehow solved the gas leak problem I’d like to know. Maybe a Shiloh Sharps is in my future (or an original for the same money).
I'll try to remember to take it apart later.
