I am thinking of listing my Pietta .44 revolver on the classifieds, but I am unsure about the legalities of shipping from one state to another. Does anyone know a refrence to shipping laws for bp revolvers?

None, ship it like a BB gun, tell the it a collectable and breakable handle with care, nuff said.

Hey, I live in California and there are no restrictions on sale or shipping of BP firearms here!

I don't think you ship using the US Postal Service. UPS ground should be fine and maybe Fedex.

Some states do have restrictions. Cabelas warns you to check regulations particularly in Hawii, Mass,Michigan,New York, Illinois and New Jersey. If your not shipping to those states then your fine. Postal service will ship them, I've had several BP guns shipped to me via Postal Service. UPS will also ship them.

That's the story, Dixie Gun works has the same thing, matter of fact they have a few states they won't ship too, and it's those same ones.
Pretty much any place else CONUS your good.

Just say that in your ad, "won't ship to restricted states", and stay with the above list,, unless the buyer wants to use an ffl dealer.

I live in Michigan and have NEVERhad a problem receiving any gun in the mail or by UPS. Cabellas reasoning is that it doesn't want to ship to a minor. You have to have a copy of your driver licence noterized and emailed/faxed to them thats it. Once you have it done you can get any BP gun any time because now your in thier data base. Same with Dixie. 3/4 of my BP weapons have been shipped by either mail or UPS.

When I have shipped my pistols to be repaired, I shipped them as machined parts. Guns kinda tend to disappear from the mail.

I have bought BP revolvers from Cabellas (this year, in fact) and have never been asked to provide any proof of age like a driver's licence. Maybe that's a state-dependent thing?

Just bought an 1858 Remmy from Cabela's about a week ago. Did everything online, order, pay, shipping. No problems. Took about five days from order to arrival at my door.

I think it must be a state thing. I've never been asked for proof of age, although they do ship it adult (21) signature required.
