Howdy folks,
I've been looking through back posts trying to find an answer. I have someone looking for the easiest way to ship a BP pistol to me. We're not sure which shipping services will accept it and which won't. I gather that UPS will if he uses the UPS office itself. How about Fedex? I doubt the post office will ship it which is a shame, cuz that's the easiest.

Thanks in advance. :)

first thing I would do is take it to the post office, chances are they will ship it, no problem. flinch

I have a flyer on my wall from my local gunsmith and in large bold letters it says "Do not use the U.S. Mail to ship handguns. It is illegal".

I am not sure that the clerks at the Post Office have the savy to distinguish between a pistol which is and is not BP.

Use UPS, removes the hassel and possible problems.

I think handguns need to be shipped overnight UPS, but I don't know if that applies to blackpowder handguns.

Have purchased 3, from 3 different vendors, all shipped from out of state...
UPS...the brown guys!

us post office asks too many questions, has too many rates.
UPS has a better tracking system online AND you dont have to pay for it.

UPS, my vote!

Then shipper with the least hassles about bringing guns aboard is Fed-Ex. They get all my gun/primers/powder-shipping business.

When I hear from him again, I'll let him know to check into UPS or Fedex. Muchos gracias, folks!

I use the P.O. to ship all of my BP guns, rifles and handguns. Have him get one of their Flat Rate priority mail boxes and he can ship it to you for about $8.

I'm not a big fan of what Brown has done for me. I always use the Post Office, I ship both BP rifles and pistols without any hassel.

I've shipped using all 3 vendors...I do not offer any extra information to the person behind the counter.

As long as it is not hazardous, explosive ect. the post office will ship it. A regular handgun the USPO will not ship them.
I break down all my firearms for shipment.
UPS by their own accord requires overnight of Handguns.

FedEx ships anything

I've heard that the PO gets wiggy about shipping handguns, even black powder ones. I'll tell him about it too. Thanks.

You can legally ship a modern handgun through the P.O. as long as it is going back to the dealer for repairs or such. I shipped a Taurus revolver back that i had shot so much it had finally loosened up and i sent it through the P.O. and the P.O. returned it to me from Taurus.

you got to be careful with the uspo..mentioned this to a fella who sent his TC contender out..he came home one day to find a 2 foot box sticking out of his mail box.
