I like the leather repair on the powder horn!Thats a super nice setup. I use an old fishing tackle box I found in an antique shop for $30. I thought it was a good deal. View attachment 43506View attachment 43507

Thanks. Thats actually a squirrel hide repair. Common in Appalachia.I like the leather repair on the powder horn!
Were you wearing a mask when you got it for $30? Jesse and Frank would have, pandemic not withstanding....Thats a super nice setup. I use an old fishing tackle box I found in an antique shop for $30. I thought it was a good deal. View attachment 43506View attachment 43507
Lovely workmanship. My SIL got the walnut from a friend who thickness planned is down to 3/8". This is my design with all hand cut dovetails. I have a table saw and router, but never did dovetails that way, dunno even how.
Had to make two though, one for the SIL too. (LOL)

Thank you! The key for an old man like me (75 years) is to use an optivisor for magnification, and a hacksaw or backsaw, after laying out very fine lines.Lovely box. Your handcut dovetails are much better than mine. I have a Leigh jig, but rarely use it.
