So.... today i shot my Lyman GPR with the same powder i was using in the fowler. 10 shots without any hesitation. but i had kept the powder in by the stove at 16% humidity last night so i decided to retry the fowler. got it to fire once in 5 try's so got savage with it.
after cleaning i disassembled it and drilled the vent out, tapped it and installed a Ox-yoke liner. ran the bore scope down its gullet and saw a large bur on two sides of the liner, and the liner protruding into the bore.
pulled the breech plug and GASP! dremeled the bur and liner flush with the bore.
put it all back together and loaded it with 90g of ff. flash in the pan. picked the vent deep and next time it fired. OK............
light bulb went on and i next loaded it with 10g ffff with 70g chaser of ff. 10 shots in a row with no glitch.
So............. i tried a load of ff only. FIP!
back to duplex and it fired every time.
between the GPR and the fowler, i emptied my flask. i think i have it cured.
i didn't shoot the fowler for accuracy today but did so with the GPR.
the more i shoot that gun the more i like it.
all shots from a bench. ten shots total

Friend stick to 3f or finer.... promise you it's for the best.
i agree wholeheartedly! now all i have to do is dig through my stash and find some, mark it for the use in the fowler.
i have an RV refrigerator that doesn't work and use it for storage. its in a spot where my wheel's won't go. need to wait for a good day to explore.

no idea if it is supposed to be magic or not, it is just what i have patches lubed with currently, besides spit! never know if it is magic unless tried. i like it in my rifles. it really keeps fouling soft and seems to make cleanup easier.
i fired the first shot, observed that it hit right at point of aim, then sighted the next two shots on the little fluidmaster decal. would have fired more but got interrupted by a neighbor with a broken mdl 11 shotgun. by the time that was fixed it was dark.
tomorrow i am really going to work with it.
Someone can break a Model 11?!?

You beat me to it bud ! He's doing darn good . The stuck patch is weird , and a first for me but no biggy ....
Your shooting sir is excellent, the patch is probably sticking to the ball due to the bees wax.I quit using it due to flashes in the pan ,know I just mix lard and olive oil 👍no more issues.nice gun also.walt

today if the snow stops long enough, i am going to work up a load for shot. maybe sling a few round ball too.
the CEO will be in town all day so she won't be able to think up any chores for me to do! all i have to do is shut off my phone!
SO over snow. just keeps coming.
