Ordinarily I do not shoot my flinters without using a rest. But I did well with unmentionables using a sling to brace/stabilize my stance and weapon. That recollection has me wondering how to shoot my long rifle and SMR with a sling. I do not want to "uglify" them with permanent hardware. The sling would be for shooting only. Not for carrying the piece.

OTOH: There have been a few times when I wished for a carrying sling for my SxS ml shotgun. If you spend a half or whole day following dogs you likely will be nowhere near your vehicle at the end of it. And maybe carrying some game to boot.
