From time to time I do see copies of the Blackmore book for sale and if you would like me to let you know when I find one I would be happy to do that for you. Your post stated that you did not know of any of the guns being used in the sea service with 26' bbls. I just wanted to state that some were, even if they were not regulation. The picture of the sea service gun sure looks like it was made from a Bess. I won't belabor the point. The caption does state that it was made up from old parts.

I would like to know a lot more about sea service small arms and I will be building a reference library. This is a great forum for the exchange of such information.

There's also this version out there (a later model than the early 1700's one in the first post): http://www.militaryheritage.com/musket12.htm

:hmm:
Heres my 1st post.bear with me.

I have used 2 different companys to buy my pieces
And the ONLY company that really went above and beyond was loyalist arms..

I will not post the names of the other company But if asked I will.
Any how I just received my 2nd blunder bess 1 week or so ago "steel barrel" the 1st one had to be sent back because the stock was missing a 1 inch piece! so I sent it back 2 months later a second one came with the same flaw...and as added bit o crass the main spring is so weak it cannot even open the battery.
I am not even going to bother sending it back,I have stripped it refinished it and repared the flaw.japanned the barrel.now I have to save up some $$ to send the lock to loyalist arms for repair....2nd lock I have had to send them both came from pieces bought from the company that I would NEVER use again.

Any how sorry for the rant the jist of it is LOYALIST ARMS is a super class act and I back their products and services!

Have also been treated well by Loyalist Armes. Blair has been helpful no matter how ditzy my ideas have probably seemed to them. Like all good makers, they're light-years behind on orders but they're up front with that info and don't leave you thinking stuff can be created and sent out over night. Nice folks.

I have 2 arms from MTV and I have not had any trouble with them. I also have a baker rifle which is getting a rifled bbl. so I haven't used that yet. They are fantastic sparkers.

I've also had an excellent experience with Loyalist. I got my first ML this summer from them (an East India Company Bess) and I love it. Blair was really friendly and helpful.

Carp
Are you going to buy that Sea Service Musket and give us a report on how it shoots?
