A couple of weeks ago, my son, Shortknife, and I went hunting. He got a nice buck with his muzzleloader....I got a piece of HIS deer. Last night, I bid on a nice poorboy rifle and who do you think outbid me by $5....RIGHT!...He did it again. Besting the ol' man is getting to be a habit of his. :nono: Oh well, he said he'd let me shoot it. I guess that's better than nothing.......Let's see; what have I got to trade him???? :hmm:

All in jest...I'm thankful for our common interest and the relationship we have.

Maybe he will give it to you as a Christmas gift??? Now that would be nice! :)

Got to go back to work Talk to yall' later.

Ever drive 10 hours to an event and the first words you hear anyone say is not "how you doing?, glad to have you here or wow you came a long way to see us!" Instead it's

"Where's your boy?"

Been there several times!

Hello yall'sorry you have not heard from me but I have been busy out hunting . . .

You beat me to the punch. I was going to say I recognized a pattern here.

Longknife: talk much, achieve little.

Shortknife: talk little, achieve much.

I guess he used up hisself getting you trained proper and now has to rest a bit. :winking: All those years of bein the bear bait and fetching ducks and squirrels in yer teeth has paid off handsomly.

Sounds like he did good by you, and vice versa.

There's not too many things in this world better than a father and son that do things together...

MM, AMEN. In my case, father and daughter or daughters. Maybe some day, father, daughter or daughters and son-in-laws. I sure hope that boy has some nice flinters to provide as an offering for the privelege to marry my daughter :haha:.
After I got married, my father-in-law was my hunting partner for years. He now takes my nephew hunting. It is a shame my dad never liked hunting or guns.
Knife family Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy each other as often as possible and good luck shooting.

Amen, Joe, Amen. I well up sometimes when I think about my "boy" growning up and moving away. I lost my eldest to the evils of drugs and vowed to not let that happen to my youngest. Spend as much time with them as you can. They won't be little forever...
My family is what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving holiday season!

I can't imagine anything that could be more heart wrenching then losing a child. I'm truly sorry to hear of your loss. There is nothing I could ever say to ease the pain you must feel. Take strength in knowing that the good Lord has blessed you with a second son...

I must apologize. I didn't mean to mislead anyone. I didn't physically lose my son. I meant that he left home when he was 17 because of the drugs and my inability to effectively deal with it. I no longer have a relationship with him. To me, he has been lost. I hope that he will come around some day, before it is too late to straighten his life out. I am sorry if I mislead anyone. It was unintentional. Rick

[There's not too many things in this world better than a father and son that do things together... ] [/quote] Sure there is. From a son's stand point. It's beating the pants off your father.

"beating the pants off your father"

Knowing that getting beat by my boys was in my future, I never let my kids beat me. Not at basketball, not at shooting, not at anything. I always told them that they would win someday and would have earned it. Well, they have earned it, but now they never let me win!

longknife wins sometimes but only when he changes the rules. This make him feel like he is not old I guess.
