Not a fan of bending bbls as first choice for problems, but have done a few. Worse job was where a guy's urinated wife had proofed his Hawken upside a power pole. Having a large arbor press makes it an easy task, I support the bbl in hardwood vee blocks, a short piece of grooved wood on top to protect bbl with spacers beneath to prevent over bending.

I have to admit the idea of bending the barrel on my beloved smoothie is painful to me. But your comments have me interested. I am also a "see plenty of barrel" shooter. Hence, lot's of mirage after a shot or 3.
Here's the dumb question part....how much of a bend are we talking about? Just a few thousandths?
Thanks. Kevin

One other concern that I haven't seen mentioned here is "memory". In the past I have seen posted on this or other forums that bent barrels tend to return toward original alignment. Comments?

I had always heard that, but never had the problem. Most of the time I end up bending too far the first time, and have to bend them back down a bit , so maybe that's why I havn't run across this.

It is a visible bend in the barrel. Some you have to bend more than others, so it's more or less visible depending on how far it has to go.
My fist home made smooth bore with a Gostomski barrel looked like a ski slope....but it sure shot good!
