should I just get a new cylinder?

I second the change in temperature as one means to try to get it out. How does a nipple get mashed in the cylinder? The idea of just shooting the five chambers is also a consideration.

Mount a small vise on a drill press table. Put two short wooden dowels in chambers across from each other, invert the cylinder and tighten the jaws of the vise on the portion of the dowels sticking out of the chambers.

Unplug the drill press. Insert your nipple wrench into the drill chuck and tighten it down. Lower the head to place the offending nipple into the wrench jaws. Lock the head in that position.

Now, slowly turn the drill chuck by hand, applying torque to the nipple. The dowels in the vise will hold the cylinder from turning so that all the torque is applied to the nipple; the drill press prevents the nipple wrench from being mis-aligned (which is the main reason most nipple wrenches are easily destroyed).

All this assumes, of course, that the appropriate doses of your favorite loosening agent have been applied first.

great idea! did you use a file to notch the socket? i see a little discoloring indicating high temp maybe a die grinder? gonna make me one today!

I mounted a cutoff wheel in my micro lathe and held the socket with the handle shown in the photo and cut by eye. What I like about this socket nipple wrench is that it can be used with the handle or a ratchet handle if more torque is required.

GOT IT OUT!!

Determined not to be beat I made a Junkman nipple wrench. mounted the cylinder in the V blocks of the vise lined with a piece of rubber. attached the socket to a ratcheting screwdriver handle. now I could apply downward pressure while turning.I actually had two stuck but one more so than the other. the first one came out with no problem. the second which I was stressing over came out like a bad tooth. YEE HAW.
now it's off to get new stainless nipples, new powder and new ball(old ones are too small.)
Thanks to all!!!

Why can't they market a nipple wrench like that? The ones now commercially available are junk.

When you install your new nipples, don't forget to apply some "anti-seize" to the threads.

The nipples in many C&B revolvers seem to get real tight when the gun is fired.

"They" do.
Ted Cash markets a small ratchet handle that fits a nipple socket similar to the one junkman01 made. I don't believe the sockets are sold separately, however.
