I,m about to order a .490 lee round ball mould, and Im wondering if there is any disadvantage to the two cavity mould.
Ive used a borrowed single cavity, and was happy with the results, but if you can make two at once why not?

I have a .490 Lee double mould and it works great. I think you will appreciate the increased production rate. Double your pleasure, double your fun.

Two cavity mold is the better choice. The mass of the mold helps to even the temp and you get two balls per pour. The two ball mold only cost about two dollars more. I get mine at midway for about 17-18 dollars. Shop around for a good price. I have seen them go for up to 35 dollars in some stores.

Lee Double cavity molds...

wish they made them in .395!(I think they used
to)

....Lee molds, they only mold my momma lets me use!

Yes, for RB moulds I go with a double cavity when possible. With conicals I prefer single cavity as there are many more variables with that style of bullet (nose, base, lube grooves, etc). Of course, I'm talking from a strictly target shooting perspective where I'm looking for every advantage, for hunting & informal shooting I don't think it's so critical.

All my moulds are Lee, for the price, compared to other brands, you can't do better. I have both single and double, both work great.

I would purchase a Lyman. Cast iron blocks will always perform better than aluminum. They will last longer also. As to multipule cavity molds, no. No two holes are cut the same in any mold block.
