I have an Allen boxlock rifle, with a GM .45 cal 1-16” twist. I love the latter muzzleloaders from the late 1800’s. Had a gibbs rifle for awhile that got me hooked. So, I’m playing with this gun, and had 45 cal Lee mini mold. It drops a .452 bullet from soft lead. I needed them sized to .449 for this barrel. Being cheap and not wanting to spend $40.00 on a special order Lee sizer, I laid the bullets on a piece of glass, took a paint stir stick and rolled them a half a dozen times. Now they miced .450. A half a dozen more rolls, and bingo .449. Just thought I’d share that.

Hadn't tried that little trick..."Old age and treachery always overcomes youth and skill!" :haha:

2grouse,
Yeah man!
I used to use a couple of small pieces of formica. The glue side of the laminate had a grain to help adhesive hold it and worked great on bullets. That's how I made round noses fit my 1861 (cast with a Lee 9mm mold hogged out with a 3/8" bit).
