Where can you get sizing dies, the type you push the bullet through with a wood dowel.
I need:
.576
.577
.578

Dixie Gun Works only has .575, I could buy 3 and have them machined to spec. Thoughts?

Thank you.

I have reloaded for about 30 years now, and I havent seen any dies that you push the bullets through with a wood dowel. Lyman has the 310 tool that you could put a sizing die into, it works like a big pair of pliers.

Lee Precision will have or make your dies if you contact them. Lee is very simple, fits in a single stage press, and most important pushes the bullet through nose first eliminating the need for the top punch.

If Lee doesnt have them in stock they will make them. I had them make a sizer for me a couple of years ago, and I think it was like $30. They are in the reloading die business so it isnt a big deal for them to size a die for you.

OK I just checked,,,their max size is .575--

rather than have them special made it may be cheaper to buy the .575 and have them ground to size in a machine shop.

You can get the .575 and grind it yourself with a split metal rod wound with emery paper. I've done it with lyman dies and am getting ready to do it to a lee .457 push through. Can you believe lee does not have a standard .458 or .459 size?

The ones I have came from Rapine Bullet Molds. They are just plain cylinders (not threaded like the Lee dies) & are made to fit in a little press that Rapine also sells. However, they could just as easily be used with a piece of dowel mounted in a drill press to push the bullets thru. They will make them in most any size.

Yup, I believe it. That is what I had to have them make for me, a .458 so I could size my .45-70's.
