The volume capacity of a 45-70 case is 0.368 cubic inches (by one source) which converts to 6.03 ml. So a 6 or 7 ml vial gets you in the ballpark for 80 grains.

I would suggest not buying glass. I bought a quantity of small plastic vials or "bottles" many years ago (I think it was the late 70s!) that are excellent for powder charges. I think they were designed for pills or medications, so you might check a local drug store. Mine are about 3 inches long, a half inch in diameter and they have red screw caps. They also have gradations on the side which make them handy for predicting where you can fill to get 50 grains, 80 grains, 100 grains, etc. They are not period or historically correct, of course, but they are excellent for trips to the range where you don't want to be fooling with powder horns or large quantities of black powder. I've used them for hunting for many years. Put 4 or five loads and a small loading block in your pocket, and....as the Brits say....Bob's your uncle!

Try to get the flip top plastic bottles that the diabetic test strips come in. You can open them with one hand and you won’t lose the lid!. Excellent for powder and shot!

I use these. From Buffalo Arms. Never had any issues, even rolled off the bench from time to time. Never broke. Plus You can order the storage case.

I use 7.5ml centrifuge vials and they hold about 90gr max.
10ml will hold probably 120+

These are fairly inexpensive, some sort of plastic, I bought a large lot off of evil-bay. I believe Idaho Lewis recommended them to me for premeasured loads he uses them for target shooting. I ended up giving 1/2 of them to my farm hand, the young fellow uses them to premeasure loads for hunting.

Yep, Ebay. I don't know what the exact size of mine are but they work fine. Some guns need one vial and others two. Look around, there are options.

I’ve had my glass vials now for almost 40 years, yeah a couple have broken. In the scheme of things I have lost more caps

I, too, use small plastic lab sample tubes. They work fantastic. I use them a lot for my .32 squirrel rifle. Between those and a loading block, they simplify the reloading process in the woods.

For my .50’s, I use speed loaders.

Still need to locate some .54 caliber speed loaders.

look for medical centrifuge vials on Amazon. They have a flip cap, are available in a number of sizes and are very inexpensive. I have several hundred I use when working with kids are Scout camp. I put a premeasured charge in each one to speed up loading and eliminate kids measuring and handling powder any more than necessary.

Paper cartridges are all I use for fast reloads while hunting. They’re great.

Plus it's super cheap.

I collect the plain white paper the local supermarket wrap fresh Fish and Meat in (plastic bag inside), also brown paper bags and the A4 ream printer paper. Add Glue stick for the cartridge tube and its sealed up enough to not be a problem.

If the OP is like me, he likes glass because plastic didn't exist. Glass with cork stoppers a might have been used. If p/c is not a concern, Temu sells plastic ones real cheap, plus it supports China. Ain't I funny?
