I’ve always been wary about pawn shop pistols. Some yo boy pops a store owner, unloads the pistol at a pawnshop. Next thing, cops are kicking in my door.
And that cant sell to a pawn shop without id… pawnshop owners are slightly above chop shop owner’s integrity.
I had an experience with an AR15 I bought from a LGS with whom I've done business for decades. They bought a collection of (stolen) guns from someone and local law enforcement was on the trail. I got a call from the store manager asking if I still had the rifle. So, the deal was they would give full credit including sales tax on what I paid for it, but it had to be turned in to them. I didn't have to deal with the cops at all. I actually ended up with a higher quality rifle they had in stock as a result. Sh*t happens.

Store credit is bull. You returned the rifle, saved their *** and they still got your money. Glad it worked out for you but Id have said “Oh want this rifle? Give me my money and I will also take that one on the rack”.

I hear ya. I had a long relationship with them, bought many guns at often very low prices and had no axe to grind with them. I bought my first muzzleloader from them...in the 70's....that kind of long relationship. I didn't want to add fuel to a fire they were trying to put out.
