I've decided that I really would like to start hunting with a smoothbore flintlock. In order to save money. I'm thinking about getting one (in the white). I'm just not sure what is involved in finishing one.  I'm one of those guys who can build a shed or a fence but haven't done any type of woodworking. I'm not looking for a cheap rifle with cheap parts by any means, but it doesn't need to be fancy. Just a basic rifle with quality hardware. Any advice as where to look would be a great help. Thanks

Buy it, but first buy "Recreating the American Long Rifle" or "The Art of building the Pennssylvania long rifle". Track has the books and would be glad to sell them to you. An "in the white rifle" is almost done for you, its a good place to start.

Thanks for the help. I discovered the links page right after I posted this. It had most of the anwsers I was looking for. Sorry for the trouble.

I bought a in the white trade gun from North Star West last year.It was pretty straight forward Matt was real good at answering my questions. If you can build a shed or fence you will have know problem.I am very happy with mine.
