The loading process usually dictates when I will swab the barrel. Smooth,no hang up loading good to go.Could be 10 maybe 25/30,to me there are so
many variables that effect the process. Temp,
humidity,time between shots etc.For me,at least,it just depends. :2

Hi Smoking50. I also do the scout thing. We try to keep 3 guns running during the full day of shooting. Mine is a Investarms Hawken .50 older gun with the chrome bore. It shoots all day and usually go's someware between 100 to 175 shots. Only had to clean around the nipple area a couple of times and clean the rifle after I got home.
Lots of fun working with the scouts, lots of questions and always wanting to know when we are coming back.
Keep up the good work and alway keep it safe.

Fox,

Sounds like you & I have about the same rifle. My .50 Lyman Trade Rifle is made by Investarms. For the event that I participated in, I was one of 7 or 8 Instructors that day. I took care of the larger crowds though, answering questions as I loaded. I kept saying the mantra, "Powder, Patch, then Ball or this thing don't fire at all!" both out-loud and to myself, depending upon the situation at hand and where I was in the loading process when the question was asked :haha: .

It was an honor to see a couple of Eagle Scouts in their Class A's, still young enough to wear the Rank Patch, instead of just the ribbon. For those Scouts got a hand shake and then when it was their turn to shoot, they loaded the rifle under watchful eyes (mine and their Dad's). Made a few Eagle Dads quite PROUD to see their sons loading that rifle! :)

I love volunteering to do this! .

First post -recently shot in our club rendevous - 60+ shots out of th 54 cal. Loads between 55 and 75 grains of Wano 3p. Patch wet with 1/10 Slip 2000 and water. This stuff keeps the bore really clean. No misfires for the whole day
