There are many dweebs on Youtube who get a BP gun of some sort and because they can make it go BOOM, they now believe they are an expert in BP shooting and because they know how to post videos, they are goig to tell the world how to do it. I have seen so much crap on Youtube.

I've got a bunch of channels that I watch all the time but haven't really found a dedicated BP channel that rings my bell. "Plowboysghost" is the most recent I've found that I really enjoy.

I hate giving Views to an ***** who doesn't even know the proper terms for the parts of a gun , trying to tell me to put powder in my "cylinders "......
That's one of the things that grates on my nerves every time.

He’s a cut above. The original research he does is amazing.

It's what he does for a living. Doctor Németh is the principal lecturer on Military History at the Public Service University of Budapest's Faculty of Military Science and Officer Training.

He is also the current world champion 100m military match rifle shooter, and a highly regarded sporting shooter, particularly with BP firearms. He has yet to produce a video on his Youtube channel - capandball - that is not worth looking at at least five times.

He also runs a very useful BP store in Budapest - kapszli.hu - with a useful range of products designed for BP handgun shooters and ACW reenactors. He has a very close and productive association with the famous Italian replica firearms producers, Davide Pedersoli, and usually appears on their stand at the IWA.

Yeah, its really cool to see him shoot something like an Austrian jager flintlock as part of a history deep dive and then realize he is actually world-class in it. Same with his testing of those bar shot or paper cartridges with sprues in wheellocks and that he probably is the best person to do it.

Bellevue is horrible just repeats of the same old boring guns and beats his chest as black powder editor bla bla bla
Black Powder Manic is just silly and no one takes him seriously so he dont count. Capandball and blackie are the best.
Woodcrafter 76 is one you might enjoy
I’ve been over forty years in living history and really enjoy Mike and enjoy his newbie vids as much as his walk arounds in camp
BPM is silly, but having fun and I get a kick out of all his vids. After all having fun is what this is all about.
To each their own
But do check our Woodcrafter you may really enjoy him

My "objection" or displeasure to some of the YouTube videos is not so much the poor quality of the video but the low volume. On almost any subject they need to speak up.The video part is okay ,it's the audio that looses me.

"That said, I have watched many YouTube vids and realizing what little I do know, many of the people who post videos on YT know even less."

Old-Duckman, congrats you are ahead of the game. Seek out National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA) or NRA for their Muzzleloading Course. Yes, you may have to pay for it, yes it is extremely safe sided, but it is good basic hands on learning with a knowledgeable instructor.
Are you in western PA by chance?

I am in western PA, Beaver county to be exact. Thanks for the advice.

Mike Belevue is one, if not THE most knowlegable guys in Black Powder shooting, historical firearms, loading, shooting and maintaining them AND the history of the weapons as well as so many people and battles of the 17th,18, and 19th centuries. Capnball is very good too. I guess you are intitled to an opinion.

Here is two that wasn't mentioned..there are more for sure..but these guys put out a nice series on the Colt Revolvers of the 1800's not all of them..but the Black Powder variety...I thought it was interesting..my knowledge is limited...the channel is 11BangBang....and also Duke Frazier Productions...mostly History..

Making videos is hard too

I put a few videos on YouTube, no intent on any personal gain I was just having fun. Just to have a historical record of myself shooting Pritchett Cartridges from paper cartridges. Com, because I don't know if I'll ever get any more of them

And people still make comments, telling me I'm doing something wrong or trying to refute me with wrong information on their end

I'm like, can I not make a 30 second video of myself shooting with cartridges without the trolls coming out.....I think my videos got 20 views in 3 years. But the felon guy with 30 cylinders on a belt , who teaches you how to load. 45 ACP bullets into a Remington has millions 😀 YouTube is bizarro world. My coworker is an attractive lady in her 50s and her video of her throwing frozen meat into a sink got 10x as many views as me shooting a Dragoon with a Go Pro on

I felt that when watching the wheellock video but a quick google search of prices and availability quickly crushed that urge.

I am still determined to get a snapping matchlock though.
I bought a Pedersoli CS Richmond about 3 years ago after watching him shoot the Pedersoli 1861, I'm like, I need one 😀

His video on the Civil War Sharpshooter rifle also inspired me to buy a Pedersoli Hawken

I do not even particularly care for Confederate arms and do not currently want to cast bullets, but his old whitworth videos made me wrestle with my financial self control.
