Soda cans got smaller

I see soda cans have become smaller diameter lately. My local grocery has only the smaller 7.5 oz size. This presents an opportunity for a smaller bore cannon. However, my mortar was made for full diameter (2 5/8") soda cans. The short 8 oz ones are excellent when filled with concrete. Are full diameter cans being phased out?

Coke and Pepsi container sizes have increased steadily over the last 50 years....and so have people. The number of diabetics has quadrupled..

Smaller can sizes offers the illusion of healthier consumption......But the reality is that, they have a slightly higher profit margin and consumption rate.
It's a win/win for Coke and Pepsi.

Beer, 12 OZ...........I see import bottles are now 11 oz. so, I don't buy them.

I only buy soda for special occasions, and for mortar ammo. My body does not process concentrated sugar properly. IF I watch my diet and weight all is well. Drinking soda is off the list. I can not tolerate high carb breakfast, like pancakes and cereal. That was not the point of my post though.

The shortie full diameter cans make very good ammo when filled with concrete.

I was more interested to see if anyone knew about the traditional 12 oz generic soda cans, particularly the short fat 8 oz. ones, and their continued availability.

As far as I know it's just the sugar filled sodas that are going smaller.... Plenty of other products are packaged in 12oz cans...from V8 to Sparkling water.....

Can you make some removable molds out of cardboard or thin ply wood from hobby shops?

I sometimes wonder what some of my acquaintances from the 1970s are using now. They built barrels for quart oil cans. :idunno:
